What a private label pet supplement minimum order actually is
Published minimums in this category run from a few hundred units to several thousand, and the figure alone tells you almost nothing. Below is what each supplier publishes, with the source, followed by the conversion that actually decides whether a minimum is cheap or expensive.
Published figures
What suppliers say, in their own words
Checked 17 October 2026 against each supplier's own page. A published minimum can change; the link is there so you can re-check it.
| Supplier | Published minimum | Applies to | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| NexMach Pet | 300 units per SKU | All four formats — soft chews, softgels, tablets, powders | This site |
| Pet Tech Labs (US) | Soft chews from 504 units | Soft chews. The same page notes that many manufacturers require a 5,000-unit minimum | pettechlabs.com |
| Welsdom (Canada) | 500 units per SKU | Most pet supplement formats. A separate FAQ on the same page gives 500–2,000 depending on format and formulation | welsdom.com |
| MillMax (Latvia, listed on Wonnda) | From 750 units | Supplements generally, not pet-specific. Same listing gives a 5–9 week lead time | wonnda.com |
| Wonnda (directory, editorial note) | "Commonly start in the low thousands" | The category as a whole, described alongside a minimum batch tied to a mixing vessel | wonnda.com |
We compared the suppliers we could find that publish a number at all. Plenty do not, so this is not a ranking of the category — it is a list of published figures we could check.
The conversion that matters
A unit minimum is not an order size
Three hundred units is a different amount of product depending on the jar. This is where two quotes that look comparable stop being comparable.
| Minimum | Pack count | Units of product you actually receive |
|---|---|---|
| 300 units | 60 ct jar | 18,000 doses |
| 300 units | 90 ct jar | 27,000 doses |
| 300 units | 120 ct jar | 36,000 doses |
| 300 units | 150 ct jar | 45,000 doses |
| 504 units | 60 ct jar | 30,240 doses |
| 500 units | 150 ct jar | 75,000 doses |
A 300-unit minimum at 150 count is a larger commitment than a 500-unit minimum at 60 count. Before comparing two suppliers, fix the pack count, then compare.
What moves the number
Three things that change a minimum
- The format. Soft chews cost more to run than powders, and a minimum quoted before the format is known is not a quote.
- The pack count. As above — the same unit minimum is a different order at 60 count and at 150 count.
- Stock formula or new formula. A stock formula starts from an existing base; a new formula has to be built, tested and signed off, which resets the lead time and usually raises the minimum.
Convert our minimum to your pack count
Send the format, the pack count and whether the formula is yours or ours. You will get the unit price at 300, 1,000, 5,000 and 20,000, and the sampling cost as its own line.
